FWD Center at the Downtown Campus Featured in RBJ COVID Recovery Edition

On March 12, the Rochester Business Journal published a COVID Recovery edition of their publication. This publication features an article authored by Vice President Oldham (Economic Development, Workforce and Career Technical Education) detailing the importance of middle-skill jobs as we navigate the road to economic recovery from the pandemic.

With a focus on upskilling and reskilling displaced workers or career-changers, as a result of COVID-19, the article outlines the timeliness of the launch of the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center (FWD Center), planned to open in early 2022. Designed to be the training center for the entire region, the FWD Center will focus on short cycle and accelerated programs to train and place workers quickly into some of the most in-demand industry sectors in the region. The FWD Center will be built with the ability to grow and adapt to the changing and emergent technologies that are driving the future of work within advanced manufacturing, health care, information technology, skilled trades, apprenticeship, and professional services. To learn more about the FWD Center visit: www.FWD-Center.com.

Also featured in the COVID Recovery edition of the RBJ, is the Mpower partnership between Monroe County and Monroe Community College. Mpower is intended to play a crucial role in rebuilding our local economy by offering flexible funding to recruit, train, and place underemployed and unemployed Monroe County residents into middle-skilled jobs. To learn more about Mpower visit: www.workforceforward.com/mpower.
