SUNY Shared Services

MCC served as the host campus for a ‘shared services’ meeting of procurement representatives from Western New York SUNY campuses.  In addition to MCC the following campuses were present:  University at Buffalo, Alfred State, NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Buffalo State, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Erie Community College (ECC), Niagara County Community College (NCCC) and Systems Administration’s Office of Business Operations & Procurement.

For several years, this group has been working collectively – (along with other similar regional SUNY groups) on a number of initiatives designed to reduce cost across the SUNY System.  The most recent focus of the Western New York group has been on transforming the current SUNY Procurement environment from its heavily transactional state to one that is conducive to more collaborative activity such as strategic sourcing.  The end goal is to optimize the SUNY procurement processes and obtain the best value for SUNY institutions.

As part of this initiative, the Western New York campuses are working to identify what is referred to as an “e-procurement’ platform that could eventually be rolled out across all of SUNY.  This platform creates an electronic information exchange between suppliers and procurement/accounts payable areas.
