Flags at Half-Staff, Thursday, 3/12/09


Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in honor of Auburn, New York native Army Private First Class (PFC) Patrick A. Devoe, II, who was killed in action on Sunday, March 8, 2009, in Kandau Kalay, Afghanistan.

PFC Devoe, a member of the 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Combat Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division based at Fort Richardson, Alaska, died when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

“It is with deep regret that we acknowledge the death of Private First Class Patrick Devoe. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends and fellow soldiers,” said Governor Paterson. “PFC Devoe’s service and sacrifice to the United States of America will be honored and valued forever.”

Governor Paterson has directed the flags on all State buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor and tribute to our State’s service members who are killed in action.
