Second Session in Diversity Council's Program Series Begins Tuesday

Craig Rand, interim dean of Academic Services at DCC, will facilitate the second session in the Diversity Council’s program series, “Combating Whispers and Suspicions: Valuing Diverse Hires,” at 8 a.m. March 24 and 26.

The second of the three-session series is aimed at generating discussion on MCC’s approach to recruitment and hiring. It will explore whether MCC’s efforts help or hinder the college’s strategic goals to strengthen recruitment initiatives and implement strategies to ensure diversity and inclusion. (See events schedule below.)

Rand, professor of physical education, has served in several leadership roles during his 22 years at MCC: co-chair of the Diversity Council, chairperson of Health and Physical Education, and chairperson of the Department Chairs Group. This year, he is helping oversee the Eat Well/Live Well Challenge at MCC.

Rand is recipient of the 2004 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence and is listed in the 2006-07 edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Some of his innovative approaches to improving wellness outcomes for the campus community include the introduction of MCC’s disc golf course and the Labyrinth, located in the Stabins Physical Education Complex.
