PAC Center Campaign Surpasses Goal!

A $100,000 gift from Monroe Community College Foundation Director and Capital Campaign Chair Richard “Otto” Ottalagana has brought the MCC Foundation’s $12 million campaign to build the PAC Center at MCC over its goal! The gift also enables the MCC Foundation to complete the match for the Chesonis Family Foundation’s $1.5 million challenge.

“Otto has worked tirelessly to convey the importance of the PAC Center to the success of MCC students and our community,” said MCC President R. Thomas Flynn. “He has been an outstanding leader in this effort. We are grateful for his personal commitment and that of all members of the campaign advisory committee for delivering exceptional results.”

“Otto’s campaign vision and leadership was outstanding from the start,” said Howard Konar, chair of the MCC Foundation Board of Directors. “He embraced the opportunity to chair the campaign and connected key community leaders to the effort. How fitting that his personal gift is the one that completed the Chesonis Family Foundation match and propelled the campaign over goal.”

The PAC Center campaign was launched in January 2007, under the leadership of Richard S. Warshof, MCC trustee and past chair of the MCC Foundation Board of Directors. As an alumnus, Warshof was personally gratified by the success of the campaign and grateful to his fellow volunteers and donors who made the PAC Center a reality for MCC students.

According to Warshof, “Community leaders like Otto generously give because they know their philanthropy and volunteer efforts will change lives at MCC. Otto engaged Arunas Chesonis (PAETEC chairman and CEO) as honorary chair of the campaign and led the campaign cabinet and advisory committee to execute a dynamic campaign that was completely personalized to donors. We’re very proud of the results achieved by volunteers and the efforts of the MCC Foundation under the leadership of President Brenda Babitz.”

Named for MCC alumna Pamela Ann Chesonis, the PAC Center is a 56,000 square foot athletic, fitness and recreational facility that is being built on MCC’s Brighton Campus. The facility will include a multi-purpose field, jogging track, weight training and fitness labs, athletic training rooms, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices.

The PAC Center is a $12 million project; $6 million in private funds were required to complete funding efforts. The center will open during the fall 2008 semester.

The college community is invited to continue its support of the PAC Center and student success at MCC by purchasing commemorative bricks and pavers through the MCC Foundation. For more information, please visit https://www.monroecc.edu/go/pac or call x1500.
