Quotes That Inspire

Spending time on both the Brighton and Downtown campuses this week, I am struck by how very different campus life is for the fall of 2020. The following quote, submitted by Katherine Bolognese-Gress, director of our Radiologic Technology Program, brings to my mind how remote and online learning environments are evolving how our beloved teaching and learning enterprise impacts students. This quote is displayed in her office:

"What kind of profession does my own professional behavior invite students to enter?" -- Unknown author

Katherine shared, "When I read this, it reminds me to try and be my best self with every student encounter. As a program director and radiologic technologist, this carries from the classroom to the clinical setting. Both of these environments can be rewarding and challenging, uplifting and heartbreaking, but ultimately provide the opportunity for me to be a part of something greater.

"My behaviors leave an impression that can change how people experience and remember an impactful time in their lives. I ultimately hope to inspire my students to try and be their best selves every day as well, for their peers, their patients, and themselves."

Katherine, Thank you for educating the next generation of radiologic technologists for Greater Rochester. Your reflection highlights sentiments that we, as educators, never want to change.
