ITC Audioconference - Teaching Early Childhood Education Online with Quality

MCC will host the Instructional Technology Council’s professional development audioconference entitled, “Teaching Early Childhood Education Online with Quality,” on Tuesday, March 4 from 2:00-3:00pm in room 3-115. The presenters are: Laurie Potts, Childhood Education Director, and Cathy Meier, Childhood Education & Family Studies Lead Faculty, Southwestern Oregon Community College.

Quality Early Childhood Education is engaging, interactive, individualized and responsive. Southwestern Oregon Community College began developing Early Childhood Education online built on these important and fundamental practices. Quality face to face early childhood education is typically built on constructivist teaching practices, as opposed to strictly using lectures, reading assignments, and tests. How, then, do you take authentic assessment, collaborative learning, and hands on experiences, and incorporate them in a quality online learning experience? The presenters will discuss the answer to this and many other questions that educators will face while developing online early childhood education courses.
