PITA – PROTECTING INFORMATION THROUGH AWARENESS

This Brown Bag Session is part of a campus-wide initiative aimed at educating the MCC community on how to better manage the control and release of protected information. Protected Information is information that must be kept confidential and secure such as student records (academic, health, financial) and employee records (health, financial, benefits). MCC has set up a PITA Resource Center at "https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/pita/" to help you learn more about laws and regulations that affect protected information which may be handled as part of your job. Come learn more about this very important project. Facilitated by Jeff Bartkovich and Bill Wagoner, ETS Vice President’s Office.

MONDAY, MAY 8 in the EMPIRE ROOM

IS THERE WICKED IN WIKIPEDIA?

Search the web for any topic and you're likely to pull up a link to Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia anyone can edit. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales asserts (while his volunteers continually fight against Internet vandals) his site is on par with traditional reference sources such as Encyclopedia Britannica. Scholars and librarians challenge this notion. Who's right? Who's wrong? Is there room for compromise? Facilitated by Alice Harrington and Lindsay Stratton, ETS Libraries, and Tom Proietti, Visual & Performing Arts.
