Network Printing Changes - July 6, 2015

Over the past two years, CNS has been transitioning users from legacy print servers MCC-B150 and MCC-D150 to print queues hosted on MCC-B151 and MCC-D151 for office printing.

This transition period will end on July 6, 2015, and the legacy systems will be retired.

Most college PCs are now configured to use print queues on MCC-B151 and MCC-D151; however, we suggest you take a moment to verify that your print queues are configured correctly to avoid any potential interruption in service.

Click on your Start button and select Devices and Printers.

In the resulting window, the network print queues connected to your PC will appear.  For each printer, verify that it appears similar to “P-01-123-01 on mcc-b151” or “P-30-4000-01 on mcc-d151.”

If you are currently connected to printers on mcc-b150 or mcc-d150, you should make a note of the print queue name (i.e., P-01-123-01) and re-add it from our new print servers as follows:

Click your Start button and type \\mcc-b151 (on the Brighton campus) or \\mcc-d151 (on the Damon City campus) and hit Enter.

Locate the desired print queue in the resulting window and double-click on it to install.  Once the installation is complete, a new entry will appear in your Devices and Printers control panel.  At this point, you can right-click on the old entry for the print queue on mcc-b150 or mcc-d150 and select Remove Device.

If you experience any difficulty throughout the process, please contact the Technology Help Desk at xTECH (8324) and they can assist you with the process over the phone.
