Save the Date! Next Essential Discussions: Conversations at MCC - March 18

Mark your calendars and share the news below with your colleagues!

The next in our series of Essential Discussions: Conversations at Monroe Community College will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center.

Conceptualized by MCC's Institute for the Humanities, this year's essential discussion will explore "Preparing Citizens and Professionals through Humanities Education." More specifically, the colloquium will position the arts, humanities, and social sciences as central to the mission of the community college; in their capacity to educate the whole student, these fields of study remain vital constituents in effective preparation for careers and civic engagement--thus strengthening both our economy and democracy.

The featured keynote speakers will be Paula Krebs, Ph.D., executive director, Modern Language Association; and Roosevelt Montás, Ph.D., senior lecturer in American Studies and English, Columbia University, and former director of Columbia's Center for the Core Curriculum.

More details, including presentation topics, keynote speakers' and panelists' biographies, and online registration, will be soon available.

Please plan to join us for this worthwhile event.
