Board Members Recognized at CTE Annual Advisory Board Dinner

Five board members were recognized at the CTE Annual Advisory Board Dinner held on December 3rd, 2014.

Ernie Day: Mr. Day supported the development of the Solar Thermal program, which helps train new generations of heating technicians on how to properly implement solar thermal heating technology in this region. As energy costs continue to rise and green technology becomes more attractive, graduates from this program will be prepared to provide expertise in solar heating with NABCEP certified training. Ernie has volunteered countless hours through it all to help us develop a successful new alternative energies specialty within our HVAC/R program.

Faculty presenter: Bill Horton

Jay Glomboski:  Mr. Glomboski, owner of JG Autowerks has been chosen for the 2014 Automotive Advisory Board member of the year as he represents the best in a local business owner. Jay mentors current technicians, works with high school partners, and advises MCC of the technologies and diagnostic tools we need to stay abreast upon.

Faculty presenter: Kristy Mooney-Graves

Terry Parker Duane:  Ms. Parker Duane is dedicated, detail-oriented and eager to share her experiences as clients discuss the options for their events and promotion. She joined the Rivers Organization in 2008 as events director. Terry serves as the association executive director for several client associations. She has over fifteen years of experience in coordinating events.  Terry oversees events from start to finish—development, marketing, implementation. She adapts plans to meet client expectations and she anticipates their needs, ensuring one successful event after another.  Previously, Terry served as the events director at Monroe County Fair & Recreation Association.

Jill Slavny:  Ms. Slavny is currently the executive principal for Monroe to Orleans BOCES/WEMOCO. Jill has been a very active member of the Precision Machining Advisory Board since we invigorated it two years ago. We felt it was very important to get involvement from the K-12 community. Jill brings a great deal of experience to the table with co-ops and working with the local high schools. They have been able to build up the machining/welding program to the point that they needed to hire another instructor. With Jill's help, we have been able to institute the ability for students in WEMOCO’s machining program to be able to get enough dual enrollment courses that they can have the first half of MCC’s Precision Machining Certificate done at BOCES.  We have also worked closely over the last three years to put together the summer SAME, Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience, program to get kids interested from the local high schools in the machining program and also receive dual credit for the time that they've spent there.  Jill has become a great asset to our advisory board.

Jim VanKouwenberg:  Mr. VanKouwenberg has been a solid staple for the Precision Machining Advisory Board for many years. Often times advisory boards are held and only one or two people show up. Jim is always one of them. Not only has Jim been a great asset to advisory board and the wisdom that he brings, Jim has also become an adjunct, teaching machine math in our Accelerated Precision Machining Certificate. Jim is always here whenever we have a special event with technology teachers, high tech expo, or career nights. Jim is always there for us. Jim is currently the training coordinator for Optimax Systems in Ontario.
