“Land of Rivers and Mountains (Wûyíshan): China" Lecture Tomorrow

The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) will be hosting a lecture tomorrow, November 7, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Professor Jasmine Tang, of the World Languages and Cultures Department, will be speaking on “Land of Rivers and Mountains (Wûyíshan): China,” a presentation about Chinese culture and language. There will also be a book signing of Professor Tang’s book Taking Off with Chinese from 11:30am to 12:00pm. Both the lecture and book signing will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

With an educational background in both psychology and Chinese education, Professor Jasmine Tang was a pioneer in teaching Chinese in the US 29 years ago. Her former students range from children to successful businesspeople; she has run into them on the streets of Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai. She has continued her study of the Chinese language and teaching skills in Taiwan and mainland China, and this year received the Chinese Language Teachers Association of California’s CLERC award for outstanding contributions in Chinese education funded by the Nan Hai Company, a cultural enterprise dedicated to the promotion of cultural and educational exchanges between the United States and China.
