Student Trustee Elected to MCC Board

Koryn T. Jackson of Rochester has been named the new student member on the MCC Board of Trustees. She serves as a full voting member.

Jackson is studying Graphic Arts and Printing and hopes to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to pursue a career as a fashion art director. She has been a student at MCC for the past three semesters, and has been named to the dean’s list each time.

Last year, Jackson held the position of roundtable coordinator for the student government in which she held and coordinated meetings, as well as planned events. She was also the co-chair of the programming committee which hosted the second year of MCC Idols in the theater.

Throughout the summer of 2000, she held an internship at Rochester City Hall for the Human Resources Department. Following this internship, Jackson received an award of completion from Mayor Bill Johnson.

Jackson is currently training to be a peer advisor for the Counseling and Testing Department at MCC. Her duties will include acting as a public relations officer, directing students to appropriate offices for their concerns and putting together schedules for students with specific requests. She will hold this position throughout the next academic year, 2004-2005.

Since 1978, MCC students have elected a representative to the MCC Board of Trustees.
