MCC Faculty, Staff to Discuss Ways to Impact Local Economy


WHAT: Monroe Community College’s Technical Education Division will host an economic development workshop featuring Susan Christopherson, Ph.D., city and regional planning professor at Cornell University. Christopherson will lead a discussion, “How Green Energy Investments Can Rebuild Old Industrial Regions,” with MCC faculty and staff.  The workshop will highlight the importance of economic development in the local area and how MCC can be involved in that progress.

WHERE: MCC’s R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center Forum, 1000 E. Henrietta Road.

WHEN: Noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22

DETAILS: As an economic geographer, Christopherson studies metropolitan labor markets, economic development, and patterns in service industries. She has researched industries internationally as well as those in the local community. Christopherson has issued numerous publications and has received many awards and fellowships. Led by Dean Dianna G. Phillips, Ph.D., MCC’s Technical Education Division works to understand and develop proficiency in economic development. The economic development workshop is the second in a series of three.
