Drop-in Child Care Services Available at Downtown Campus

Please help us spread the word to students. Thank you!:

Full- and part-time MCC student-parents* can access drop-in child care services at no cost at the Downtown Campus through a partnership between MCC and YMCA of Greater Rochester.

The pilot program aims to further support students' holistic needs so students can focus on their studies and ultimately earn a college credential.

The program can accommodate up to 12 children at any one time and is staffed by YMCA child care professionals trained to keep children safe and active in a healthy environment. Care is provided to children ages 2 to 12 in the Small Activity Room (second floor, Room 240) on the Downtown Campus during the academic year. Child care is not available when the college is closed and during summer sessions.

Drop-in hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Services will end on May 22, 2020, and resume in the fall semester.

Student-parents can use the drop-in child care for no more than 2 1/2 hours per day and must be on campus during the time of service. Child care is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Student-parents may register for this service in person or online. To reserve a spot, please complete the online registration form. Students must bring their MCC ID to check in onsite.

Questions concerning the pilot program may be directed to YMCADropInCare@monroecc.edu.

*Students must be taking a minimum of one credit-bearing class to be eligible for drop-in care. Student-parents in need of longer-term child care may contact Downtown Campus Student Services, suite 310, (585) 685-6244 or go online for information on available community resources.

Students may also access MCC's Library Guide for additional on- and off-campus resources.

During the program's pilot phase through December 2020, child care services is provided at no cost to students. MCC will evaluate the program's impact on student success and before the potential rollout of the service in 2021.

The pilot program is an addition to child care services offered at the Guon Child Care Center on the Brighton Campus. For information about the Guon Child Care Center, call (585) 292-2640 or email childcarecenter@monroecc.edu.
