Special Campus Fire Safety Bulletin

Attached is a Campus Fire Safety Bulletin highlighting a potential fire hazard recently discovered at SUNY Fredonia. The incidents involve the overheating of a five light multi-colored floor lamp. The lamps may be found in your home, apartment or residence hall.

If you have a lamp like the one described, check it thoroughly for any signs of overheating or melting. Also check to ensure it has the correct or lower wattage bulb as listed on the fixture. If you find any signs of overheating or melting, immediately unplug the unit and remove it from use.

For students living in the MCC residence halls, report the lamp to your Resident Director, who will report it to the Public Safety Department.

Copies of past Campus Fire Safety Bulletins and a selection of other fire safety materials are available on the OFPC website: www.dos.state.ny.us/fire/firewww.html .
