ETS Scheduled Updates

Educational Technology Services (ETS) will be completing upgrades and maintenance to the College's network and classrooms over the holiday break.  During this time, some network services may be intermittently unavailable.  All efforts will be made to maximize system up-time and Internet connectivity including M-Drive, Banner, Angel, and email systems.  Specific scheduled ETS updates will include:

What?
 Outlook (Email)
When?  December 28 to January 2, 2011
Communications and Network Services (CNS) will upgrade the Exchange Server from 2007 to 2010.  The major change will be SPAM filtering via Outlook.  All SPAM filtering will be done with Microsoft Threat Management Gateway.  All obvious junk email will be stripped out, just like now, and all questionable mail will be placed in each user’s Junk Folder.  You will no longer receive an email from Admin Spam Filter Summary prompting you to check your blocked spam emails.  Your Junk Folder will keep all SPAM for seven (7) days allowing you to check for email that may have been junked by mistake without leaving Outlook.

What? MCC@Home
Date?  February 2011
CNS will be replacing the MCC@Home tool with MyVPN.  Soon you will no longer be able to use MCC@Home.  Please take time to learn about MyVPN and how to continue accessing MCC resources from home.  Both are available for use now.

What?  Classrooms
When? January 3 to January 21, 2011
ETS plans to install approximately 200 new computers in the Brighton and Damon Electronic Learning Centers (ELCs) during Intercession.  The computers being removed from both ELCs will be deployed to over 180 smart classrooms (lecture style) by the beginning of the spring semester providing greater reliability for the teaching/learning environment.
