Phishing emails from student accounts

Caution! There have been several recent cases of phishing emails sent from what appear to be MCC student email accounts. The student accounts have been hacked, and are being used to trick recipients into clicking on links.

Phishing email subjects have included: Memo from the HR Department, MCCC Job Placement & Student Services, Action Needed - Email Termination!

Some students have clicked on the links, and have given up their userID and password, which is why the hackers are able to send phishing emails out under their accounts.

Do NOT click on links in suspicious emails. Ask yourself why a message supposedly from IT or HR or Job Placement would originate from a student account (name@student/monroecc.edu). They wouldn't.

Please delete these emails if you receive them. If you click on one, call the Technical Support team at xTECH (292-8324; option 1 for students / option 3 for employees).
