VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL (VoIP): FROM MIGRAINE TO MIGRATION
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9
Having a well-laid plan for migration to a VoIP system is key for a successful and smooth transition. This presentation will provide the basics of what you need to know about designing and building a bullet-proof infrastructure, understanding integration, customer requirements and change/resistance to change. Topics to be covered include working with consultants and vendors to aid your migration to VoIP, building your own in-house team, communication techniques, project planning and implementation tools and techniques. INNOVATIONS IN 3D SIMULATIONS

This presentation provides an introduction to technological advances that make it possible to produce and present 3D images and simulations in the classroom. Topical issues will include learning theory applied to dynamic content, analysis of 3D production tools and software, the potential of 3D production tools and software, and a selected demonstration of images (without the glasses). This is a basic presentation, appropriate for all faculty and staff, intended to review current practices with this historic tool – 3D imagery! DVD BURNING BASICS

So, now burning a CD has become oh so blasé, and you need some more spice in your life… learn about the exciting new world of DVD burning. We’ll get you started with the basics: what equipment and software you’ll need, what’s different from CD burning, and what’s up with all those different “plus” and “minus” types of media!!! We teach you about how to make data DVDs, how to make movie DVDs, and about issues such as copyright protection. Presented by Jeremy Case of the Instructional Technologies department.
e-PORTFOLIO AND OPEN SOURCE
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30
Electronic portfolios have application in all areas of community college activity; academics, student services, professional development. MCC field tested an open services product working with 50 students in leadership positions. The pilot was built from the college's existing Co-Curriculum Transcript and allowed students the option of a digital or manual transcript. This presentation will cover the research, the applications and the results of the pilot project. Participants will be offered the opportunity to enroll in an online course to learn more about the college's research and documentation on open source programming and the e-portfolio pilot. This session will benefit student services and academic support personnel and instructional technologists. Presented by Mary Hallett, Instructional Technologies, and Jeff Bartkovich, Educational Technology Services VP Office.
