President's Wednesday Message

Last summer, as the Wellness Council planned its work for this academic year, the team posed a question: Could MCC start a new tradition, an end of year Employee Field Day to celebrate our community? The answer was: Absolutely! So, thanks to their vision, planning, collaboration, and action, on June 1, MCC will hold our first ever Field Day. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. just outside the Samuel J. Stabins Physical Education Complex (Building 10); should it rain, the activities will move inside to the gym and PAC.

What activities? Glad you asked! You’ll find table games, adult coloring, a chalk wall, gratitude tree, photo booth, PAWSativity therapy dogs, big ball soccer, kickball, disc golf, bocce, kan jam, ladder ball, and basketball. Participate in any activity and be registered for one of the day’s prize drawings, including a grand prize drawing for one of three FitBits.

If all that activity makes you hungry, Field Day has you covered: Sodexo Chicken BBQ, Nathan’s Soup and Salad, Doc Popcorn, and LuGia’s Soft Serve Ice Cream—all free to MCC employees (underwritten by a private donation).

And, if all that food makes you too tired for more activities, you can just relax, listen to the music, and browse information stations from the American Heart Association, Excellus, Project Lean Nation, MCC Foundation, Pepsi, Grow Monroe, The Good Food Collective, AAWCC, Civility Committee, and—of course—the Wellness Council.

When Field Day ends, it will be time to head to the MCC Theatre for our annual Employee Recognition Ceremony and even more celebration of the inspiring people who make MCC such a remarkable college.

My thanks to the entire Wellness Council and the many partners inside and outside of MCC who have made our new tradition, Employee Field Day, possible. See you next Wednesday!

To which activities are you most looking forward? Share on the blog.
