MCC Daily Tribune

A Faculty mentoring opportunity anouncement and clarification

Would you like to serve as a mentor to a new teaching faculty member?

Are you a non-tenured faculty member who is looking for a mentor?

Tenured teaching faculty members can serve as a mentor to a new (fall 2018) full-time teaching faculty member or continuing faculty members not yet tenured.
This year the Faculty Mentoring Program will have a new change. We have found that many younger faculty enjoy having a mentor outside of their department, but our program has only offered that service for their first year of teaching. Now we will offer mentoring to all faculty within their first five years of teaching. Therefore, any full-time non-tenured faculty may seek a mentor.
We will be matching mentors and new, or continuing faculty based on a brief survey. To indicate your interest in serving as a mentor for 2018-19, or if you would like to seek a mentor, please complete this survey as soon as possible:

We ask that all prospective mentors complete the survey even if you have served as a mentor in the past. Mentors and the new faculty they are paired with will meet at an opening reception to welcome new faculty to MCC on Tuesday, August 21 from 12:30- 2:00. Lunch will be provided. This reception provides a low-pressure environment to introduce yourself to your mentee in person. To clarify a misunderstanding: other Tribune announcements for this opportunity seemed to suggest that this reception is mandatory: it is not mandatory for participation in the program, but attendance is encouraged.

Location for that reception to be announced at a later date.
