Mitchell "Mitch" Redlo, Professor Emeritus of Business Administration/Economics, Father of Jesse Redlo

The Monroe Community College family deeply mourns the loss of Professor Emeritus of Business Administration/Economics Mitchell "Mitch" Redlo. Professor Emeritus Redlo passed away on Monday, July 6. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, especially to his son, Jesse Redlo, who teaches in MCC's ESOL/Transitional Studies Department.

Professor Emeritus Redlo began his MCC career in 1988 as an instructor in MCC's Business Administration Department. He taught multiple sessions of Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics among other courses. He was appointed assistant professor in 1993 for his "outstanding professional commitment." He was promoted to the ranks of associate professor and professor in 1997 and 2016, respectively. In 2019, the MCC Board of Trustees recognized his distinguished 31 years of service by according him the rank of professor emeritus.

From supply side economics under the Reagan Administration to the impact of globalization on the U.S. economy, Professor Emeritus Redlo made learning relevant to his students' lives. He encouraged his students to stay abreast of current events and helped them apply their learning to real-world situations. He inspired alumni to earn advanced degrees in economics after attending MCC.

He co-authored and published text books and learning materials, including "An Introduction to the Principles of Microeonomics, and was commended by colleagues for his contributions to the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee and for his impactful presentations. He enjoyed advising students and teaching them to become critical thinkers and effective communicators.

In addition to serving in a variety of leadership roles within the Business Administration/Economics Department, he also promoted the importance of MCC's Seeds of Success, Honors, Phi Theta Kappa, and Model UN programs. He was an engaged Faculty Senate committee member and officer, who also served in the role of Faculty Senate president.

Professor Emeritus Redlo will be remembered as an innovative educator and leader who built bridges between people across the College. He was committed to academic excellence and the success of Monroe Community College students.

He is predeceased by his father, Samuel "Sol" Redlo. In addition to his son, Jesse, he is survived by his brother, Robert (Michelle) Redlo; sister, Rhona (Paul) Scoffield, and his mother, Janet Redlo. As stated in his obituary, "His spirit lives on in his students, friends and family."
