Integrating Sustainability into Course Content

The Sustainability Steering Committee, which is charged with developing a College-wide sustainability operational plan, has been working on creating sustainability-related goals based on MCC’s Strategic Plan. A group of faculty members has focused on Direction One of the Strategic Plan, Learning First, which gives consideration to high-impact teaching practices and co-curricular programming. One of the few main objectives of Direction One is to increase goal accomplishment of individual learners. This group of faculty members has been working towards integrating sustainability into curricula of different academic disciplines.

A brown-bag session has been planned for Wednesday, December 4th from 12-12:50 p.m. in room 3-115 on the Brighton campus. The faculty group will share a variety of resources on climate change and its impacts on our planet, which has become an increasingly important priority in educational, social, and political institutions. Interested participants are welcome to suggest other ways of or share their thoughts on synthesizing this compelling topic into their course content.
