The Diversity Council in collaboration with the Visiting Scholars Program is pleased to announce gifted writer and storyteller Amy Tan as the 4th Annual Alice Holloway Young, Ed. D Diversity Series speaker. Ms. Tan will tell her story and will launch us into a year of telling our own stories. The Diversity Council plans to find creative ways to share and to learn more about each other. We will be guided by the college’s diversity statement which addresses this core value: “MCC is an academic community made up of individuals who reflect differences in color, culture, ethnicity, gender, nationality, physical ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, and skill. As a community of global learners, we are proud to affirm and celebrate the rich diversity that exists among us. We believe acknowledging and celebrating our diversity is essential to maintaining academic freedom and inquiry.”
We have attached a Save the Date flyer for Wednesday, November 19, 2008 and encourage you to celebrate diversity with us by attending this very special event to hear from a gifted writer and storyteller, Amy Tan.
