Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Awards $1.5M to Support the MCC Career Technical Education Pathways Project

In January of this year, the EDIWS division, in partnership with the MCC Foundation, was funded for a new initiative designed to create a stronger integrated Career Technical Education Pathways System. The project's focus seeks to increase the number of area students completing career technical education (CTE) programs and increase the pool of technicians for occupations involving robotics/automation, mechatronics, precision machining, skilled trades, and optics fabrication.

EDIWS educational partners involved in this project include BOCES #1 and 2, area career tech-focused charter high schools, Greece Central School District, and the Rochester City School District; additional partnerships may be added as the project continues to evolve. An additional deliverable for this project also includes working with the Edge Factor production company to develop a series of cinematic awareness videos that highlight local high demand careers as well as a 15-minute feature film focused on the suite of Industry 4.0 technologies being employed across several sectors in the Finger Lakes economy.

Overall, the project aims to serve a minimum of 230 students by the end of August 2022, and is currently off to a great start having achieved 107% of the first year goal for students served.
