Leaders Institute 2011


The Leaders Program of the National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD) is designed for administrative and faculty women who want to explore their role in leadership.  Programs focus on crystallizing the participant's identity, fine-tuning skills, identifying leadership and community college issues, and developing personal confidence.  The program contains the important components of a pragmatic project pertinent to institution and the creation of a long-lasting relationship with a mentor. 

The Vice Presidents are now accepting applications for the Leaders Institute 2011.  All interested candidates should complete the attached application and submit it to their respective Vice President's office for approval by January 19, 2011. 

The LEADERS Institute 2011 is a five day content-intensive, experiential workshop and is based on a recently revised curriculum which reflects AACC Core Competencies for Leadership.  The curriculum for LEADERS includes the following categories and topics:

Self Awareness:

Commitment to the Community College Mission; Self-Assessment

Using Power Productively

Building a Personal Development Plan

Institutional Development:

Policy Development

Student Success

Data Driven Decision Making

Managing Change

Budget Development & Management

Skill Building:

Conflict Management

Team Building

Negotiation skills

Systems/Strategic Thinking & Planning 

Qualifications/Requirements:  Candidates should possess a master’s or higher degree and currently be employed full-time in a community college.
