Holocaust Survivor to Speak on Campus

MCC's Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project invites you to hear the testimony of local Holocaust survivor Helen Levinson. Helen grew up in Lublin, Poland, where her father worked as a brew master. When World War II began, Helen was caught during a raid and sent to Majdanek concentration camp. She escaped with the assistance of a Nazi guard, who dressed her as a Hitler Youth and smuggled her out. Subsequently, her father determined that it was best to split up the family, so he supplied his daughter with money and a fake birth certificate. Helen never saw her family again. She was the only survivor of her immediate family. In 1947, when she was 17, Helen came to Rochester, graduated from Franklin High School, and later studied dental hygiene at Monroe Community College.

Join us and be inspired by Helen's presentation and the discussion that follows. This event is FREE and open to all MCC students, faculty, and staff.
