Preserving College Resources

When we think of college resources, we normally think of budgets. But the reality is resources include people, equipment, technology and facilities.

Recently we have had several instances where the windows have been left open by the last person using a classroom. This could have resulted in long-term water damage to our classrooms if it weren’t for the efforts of our partners in Building Services using water extractors, fans, etc.

If you find you need to open a window because it is too hot or cold in the room, please call ext. 2800 to report the issue. The issue cannot be repaired until facilities are aware of the problem. Often our HVAC technicians can check the conditions in your room quickly via looking at a computer screen and usually fix it without disturbing your class.

Preserving college resources is important to all of us. Whether we are talking about classroom carpeting or energy for the HVAC systems or the human resource of the folks who maintain our instructional spaces to the high levels we’ve become accustomed to, it is all of our responsibilities to use them wisely. On the way out of a classroom, please check items like the windows and turn off the ceiling projectors to not only cut electrical consumption but to add life to the projector bulbs.

I hope your semester is going well.
