2+2 Program Update

Due to a desire to remove barriers for students and the college’s move to direct admit to programs, the definition of MCC’s 2+2 programs has changed. Instead of “2+2 Dual Admission Programs,” they are now referred to as “2+2 Transfer Pathways.” Most students interested in a 2+2 can now be accepted into the pathway without needing to meet specific grade or course requirements. This way we can put the student on the correct transfer path sooner, thus ensuring they take the optimal coursework for transfer. The student will need to apply to the 4-year college as they near completion of their MCC degree.

2+2 Transfer Pathways outline optimal courses for obtaining an Associate degree from MCC and transferring to participating 4-year colleges. Each pathway is tailored for a specific major at a specified 4-year institution. Unique advising guides outline the courses that need to be successfully completed at MCC as well as the suggested GPA for transfer. MCC students complete the 4-year college application knowing they have a solid foundation for a smooth transition to their next college or university as well as an Associate degree. Guides should be regularly reviewed, along with the student’s DegreeWorks Worksheet.

A small number of 2+2 Transfer Pathways are considered “competitive” as there are specific entrance requirements, limited seat availability, or other factors that can impact acceptance by the 4-year college. These Competitive 2+2 Transfer Pathways are best suited for the first-time, full-time matriculated student. Please note that international students are not eligible for this option. The Competitive Transfer Pathways include: RIT - Computer Science, Engineering Science, Engineering Technologies, Packaging Science, Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonography; University of Rochester - Engineering and Optics; St. John Fisher College - Nursing; and Roberts Wesleyan College - Nursing.

Bachelor degree completion may take longer than four years depending on prerequisite courses needed, course sequencing, and/or the curriculum of the 4-year program. While every effort is made to ensure the information in these guides is accurate, students are advised to contact the transfer institution to make sure the curriculum has not changed.

The guides can be found here as well as on the LINKS section of DegreeWorks.

As they are being updated, if you do not see a guide for 2021-2022 look under 2020-2021.
