Educational Technology Services invites MCC Faculty, Staff and Administration to the following Brown Bag Lunch Sessions in September.
Sessions take place during COLLEGE HOUR (12-1pm) in ROOM 11-109 unless otherwise noted.
These sessions discuss a variety of technology topics. No registration is required – just show up!
HOW TO USE CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY
SEPTEMBER 12, 15, 19, 22 or 29
As technological applications for instruction increase, so does the need for learning environments to include more advanced technology equipment. This session is designed to enable instructors to gain confidence in the operation of equipment that is installed in MCC's classrooms and lecture halls. Learn how to:
· Operate the controls that run the equipment in the smart classrooms
· Access the M drive or use Zip disks or CDs in class
· Switch between the PC and the VCR
· Plug in your laptop to the system so it projects
· Control the audio levels in the room
· Use a closed captioned video in your class
· Plug in and use your own camcorder or other device.

COURSE SPACE ORIENTATION
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Imagine having all of your course materials and student learning activities available online 24/7. Imagine storing your teaching tools in a single location and never using an overhead again. Imagine your students submitting assignments and being able to provide them with immediate and ongoing feedback. Imagine your face-to-face interactions continuing outside of the classroom in a pedagogically sound and password-protected environment. This is all possible through the use of CourseSpace, SUNY’s Course Management System (CMS). CourseSpace is an online classroom in which faculty teach, students learn, and everyone interacts. Students can access course documents, receive instruction, compose and submit assignments, take quizzes and tests, participate in group activities, discuss issues, and ask questions of the instructor and other students. In turn, students will be able to actively participate in your class from their home, work, or nearest campus computer lab, while meeting deadlines established by the instructor. If you’re interested in teaching a web-enhanced or hybrid course, but have no SLN experience, this Brown Bag session is for you! USING E-RESERVES: ETS LIBRARIES MAKING ACCESS EASY!
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
The E-reserves system allows your students to access course and research materials on the web 24x7. This new service is a tool for faculty who want students to have ready access to course reserve materials at the click of a mouse. If you have documents such as PowerPoint presentations, class notes, class syllabi, solutions, video clips, audio clips or articles that you'd like your students to be able to access from the web, both on and off campus, Electronic Reserves is your solution. Materials may be password protected to limit use to your classes or individual sections. In addition to course materials, MCC committees are able to password protect materials and share them by utilizing the E-reserves system. Facilitated by Ellen Mancuso, ETS Libraries.
