Open Nominations for Faculty Senate Officers

As per Article V ("Officers") of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, the Nominations, Elections, and Governance (NEG) Committee is pleased to open nominations for the following leadership positions, which would begin in Fall 2019:

Faculty Senate President (two-year term)

Faculty Senate Vice President, Teaching Faculty (two-year term)

Faculty Senate Vice President, Professional Staff (two-year term).

Nominations should be submitted via email to NEG Chair (Eraj Basnayake, ebasnayake@monroecc.edu ) by 4:45pm on Friday April 5, 2019. All candidate nominations must be accompanied by a candidate statement of no more than 500 words outlining the individual's qualifications, reasons for running, goals of service, and/or any other professional/biographical information that would help voters make their decisions.

All nominations will be verified by NEG on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, after which point electronic ballots will be prepared.

Balloting will take place electronically, under the auspices of Institutional Research, from April 29, 2019 through 4:45 pm May 3, 2019. The winning officers will be declared at the Faculty Senate meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Additional details are as follows:

  • Candidates for President may be any member of the voting faculty as defined by Article IV, Section 1.
  • Candidate for Vice President, Teaching faculty, may be any member of the full-time teaching faculty as defined by the FA contract.
  • Candidates for Vice President, Professional Staff, may be any member of the full-time non-teaching faculty as defined by the FA contract.
