Technical Support Tips: Keyboard Shortcuts

Ever want to lock your screen to walk away from the computer for a moment? Want to know how to undo an action using just your keyboard? Keep reading to learn how to do these things using keyboard shortcuts.

Ctrl + Z : Undo the last action.

Ctrl + Y : Redo the last action.

Ctrl + A : Selects all items in a document or a window.

Ctrl + X : Cuts the selected item.

Ctrl + C : Copies the selected item.

Ctrl + V : Pastes the selected item.

Ctrl + B : Bolds text.

Ctrl + I : Italicizes text.

Ctrl + U : Underlines text.

Ctrl + F : Displays Find dialog box to search the current page or document.

Ctrl + P : Prints the page or document.

Ctrl + S : Saves a document.

Alt + Tab : Keep holding Alt and tap the Tab key to switch between open apps.

Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager

Some shortcuts use the Windows logo key on your keyboard. If you don't know what the Windows logo key looks like click the link below.

Windows key + L to lock your PC.

Windows key + D to display and hide the desktop.

Windows key + M to minimize all windows.

Windows key + Shift + M to restore minimized windows to the desktop.

Windows key + E to open File Explorer.

Windows key + Up Arrow to maximize the current window.

Windows key + Right or Left Arrow to make the selected window take up half the screen. Then let go of the Windows key and choose another window to fill the other half of the screen.

Windows key + Right or Left Arrow to make the selected window take up half the screen. Keep holding down the Windows key and hit the up or down arrow to make the window take up a quarter of the screen.
