Did you get an email to complete your assigned training?

If you did not have a job assignment during fall semester, you are new to the KnowBe4 Cyber Security Awareness Training system, and now need to complete your annual 2019 Kevin Mitnick Security Awareness Training - 15 min.

Once your job assignment position is activated in Banner, you should receive an email from KnowBe4 on behalf of Monroe Community College SUNY with the subject "You've been enrolled in KnowBe4 Cybersecurity training". If you ignore that, you will get a reminder after 5 days: "Please complete your assigned training". The email signature lines will be from me, Eileen Wirley.

These emails are legitimate. They contain no malicious links or attachments. They do contain the warning banner to inform you that the email came from outside the MCC Exchange email system, which is true because they came from KnowBe4.

Please complete the training as soon as possible, so that you are prepared to respond correctly to phishing emails and to avoid having your password set to expire every 7 days. If you click on a phishing campaign email, you will be assigned additional training.

Adjunct and part time job assignments in Banner terminate before the job actually ends, which archives your account in KnowBe4. Once an account is archived, the user is unable to take the training until they are hired into another active job position assignment. Moral of the story - take the training while you still can so you are not stuck with a password expiring every 7 days for months.

The secure link to the training can be found at myMCC > Employees > Technology Help in the Technology Links Channel.

If you are in an area where it is not feasible to listen to the training with speakers, closed captioning is available on the videos by clicking the CC box. You can also turn on a transcript of the narration by clicking on the hamburger (3 parallel lines stacked), and selecting the third icon down, which looks like an open book.

If you have technical problems, please call the Technology Support team at 292-TECH.
