President's Wednesday Message

As the calendar turns from April to May, MCC has already begun celebrating our students' many accomplishments. Last week, students traveled to Albany for the SUNY Chancellor's Awards of Excellence while others were recognized here at home for their performance in the Model United Nations competition. And the opening of the annual Student Art Exhibition last Friday brought together our talented students, their faculty, family, and friends for a lively award ceremony.

Celebrations like these will occur almost every day (and night) for the next few weeks. These events let our students shine, providing us with the opportunity to cheer their success and offering them the chance to reflect on all they have achieved. Each event also gives us the chance to thank our outstanding faculty and staff, whose commitment and dedication has supported our students every step of the way.

Over the next two weeks, I hope you will find time to attend the Phi Theta Kappa Induction, Jazz Festival, Sixth Act Playwriting Performances, Spring Vocal Concert, Student Engagement Awards, Athletics Awards Dinner, Writing Awards, the Scholarship and Academic Awards Ceremony, or any of the other many recognition events. Or perhaps you will celebrate our students' undergraduate research during MCC's Scholars' Day .

Your attendance at and support of these events mean so much to our students. You have inspired them along the way, sometimes pushing, sometimes pulling, often seeing more in them than they see in themselves. Years from now, they will remember your name, your class, your words of wisdom and encouragement.

Each celebration of our students is a remarkable gift that blazes brightly with a lasting, powerful, and radiant warmth that reaches far beyond what we can see. The memories of these days stretch out across decades, transforming lives and communities. You light the spark that sets this flame, that makes these futures glow. Thank you!
