2-for-1 Admission for the MCC Community

Once again members of the MCC community can receive discounted admission to the local glass show, which has been expanded this year to include other antiques and vintage collectibles.

The Depression Glass Club of Greater Rochester is offering two-for-the-price-of-one admission to MCC students and employees at its annual show and sale, which will be:

*         Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

*         Sunday, Sept. 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The event will continue to feature an array of colorful glassware, including both functional and decorative pieces that were manufactured during the Depression Era.  The sturdier pieces, such as kitchen items and barware, are still practical for everyday use, while the more elegant items like glass figurines are appropriate as beautiful gifts and unique collectibles and to set festive holiday tables.

New this year is the addition of American-made china, ceramics, silverware, and linens from the same time period. As always, the weekend will also include an educational program on Depression glass, several displays of glassware staged by club members, and a kitchen that serves snacks, lunches, and an assortment of locally-famous pies.

Admission to the show and sale is usually $5 per person, but anyone from the MCC community, with his or her college ID, can receive two tickets for the price of one.  (The second person doesn’t have to be from MCC, so feel free to bring a friend or family member.)

The local Depression Glass Club is a non-profit organization that has an interest in the history and artistry of this iconic American product.  In an effort to share its interest, the club chooses a few local educational and cultural organizations each year to receive discounted admission to its show and sale, which will again be at the Eisenhart Auditorium of the Rochester Museum and Science Center, 657 East Avenue, Rochester, 14607.
