The Withdrawl Effect

If you have students who are contemplating a course withdrawal or if you are going to withdraw a student from your class, please advise your students to check with the MCC Financial Aid Office to evaluate its effect on their financial aid.

WITHDRAWALS AND THE IMPACT ON STUDENT'S FINANCIAL AID
Withdrawal from one course: Anytime a student does a course withdrawal, it could affect their financial aid in their current semester and in future semesters.

Complete withdrawals: Complete withdrawals during a semester will have an impact on a student’s financial aid.
·  Students who do a complete withdrawal will have their financial aid adjusted (recalculated) according to the Federal Return of Title IV Refunds Policy.
· An adjustment (reduction) of your financial aid may result in a student owing a balance to MCC.
·  For more information on Federal Return of Title IV Refunds Policy, students should refer to the MCC Catalog & Student Handbook

Satisfactory Academic Progress: The withdrawal from one or more courses during a semester or academic year, may impact a student’s eligibility for both Federal and State Aid program for future semesters
·    If the student does not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines, required by the Federal and State government they may loose eligibility for Federal aid, State aid or both.
·  For more information on Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines refer to the MCC Catalog & Student Handbook

WITHDRAWALS AND TUITION LIABILITY
In some cases, withdrawals can result in students having liability to the college. For instance, students who do a complete withdrawal will have their financial aid adjusted according to the Federal Return of Title IV Refunds Policy. If the adjustment means a reduction on financial aid funds, then, this may result in a student owing a balance to MCC.
