United Way Campaign Picking up Steam!

The Monroe Community College 2008 United Way Campaign is off to a great start!  We are just a little over a week into our campaign and the MCC family has already pledged over $18,000 toward our goal of $105,000.

Earlier this week, the United Way of Greater Rochester announced the community wide goal of $33 million dollars.  If you had a chance to read any of the press coverage, you will note that ‘work place’ campaigns such as ours, serve as the backbone of the annual United Way fund raising effort.

The Monroe Community College campaign becomes even more important to our community in light of recent remarks by United Way CEO Peter Carpino: “Since United Way works on a ‘work-based giving’ model, Carpino said, the organization's donor base has suffered as Rochester's work industry has changed. United Way's donor base is almost 80 percent less than 20 years ago — in 1989, United Way had 212,000 donors. In 2007, the organization had 120,000 donors.”

Keep those pledges coming MCC!  Our generous participation shows how much we all care about the Greater Rochester Community!
