New York State Fire Inspection Begins on March 10, 2014

The annual New York State Fire Inspection will be conducted from March 10th 2014 through March 21st 2014. This will include the Brighton Campus, Damon City Campus , Applied Technologies Center and Workforce Development as well as the Child Care Center, Residence Halls and the Rush Range.

Please check your work areas to assure that they are in compliance with our safety standards. A common violation is the use of extension cords and multi-plug adapters. These are prohibited and should be replaced with a power-strip. Also, if using a space heater, it must be at least 3 feet away from combustibles, plugged directly into a wall outlet, (not a power-strip), have a UL listing with a sticker on the back of the heater and must have a tip-over safety switch which will shut it off if unit is knocked over.

All efforts will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum while the inspections are in progress. Review your work spaces and contact Sharon Marini in the Safety/Hazard Prevention office at Ext. 3151 or by e-mail at "mailto:smarini2@monroecc.edu" with any questions you might have regarding the inspection. Check the attached memo sent recently to all Department Heads and Chairpersons for a more detailed list of common violations.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation during this inspection period.
