MCC Daily Tribune

FOIL, FERPA, etc.

With the Board of Trustees' adoption of a Freedom of Information Law policy earlier this month, this is a good time to remind the college community of the offices and individuals with responsibility over certain information requests:

  • All questions related to FERPA - the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act - go to Vice President of Student Services Dr. Lloyd Holmes. Students wanting to access their records under FERPA should go to the Records and Registration Office.
  • Military recruiters' requests for student directory information under the Solomon Amendment go to the Records and Registration Office.
  • Requests for records or documents under the New York State Freedom of Information Law go to Executive Assistant to the President Dr. Sheila M. Strong. The newly approved Board policy is available online, as is the associated procedure. MCC's Freedom of Information Law website provides an overview of MCC's procedures in compliance with the law.

Thank you.
