The Office of Student Life & Leadership Development is proud to introduce Dr. Rahuldeep Gill & Aisha Fukushima as speakers of our upcoming leadership webinar series.

The Struggle is Too Real: Building Resilience in Times of Uncertainty by Dr. Rahuldeep Gill Wednesday, April 29th, 3:00 PM
Dr. Gill is a burgeoning filmmaker and an award-winning educator/author, with over nearly two decades of experience teaching about religious ideas and cultural identities.

Raised in Boston, Dr. Gill graduated with Honors from the University of Rochester (New York) and received his doctorate in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a professor at California Lutheran University where he teaches a class on religion and hip-hop culture, in addition to courses on Asian-American religions, the Sikh tradition, and ancient Asian spiritualities. Overview of Upcoming Webinar:
We were already feeling exhausted by weathering the relentless storms and the work that never seemed to end. Now, in the face of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, how are we supposed to bring our best selves to the work we do for more just and equitable communities? This 30-minute online workshop, tailored for the current crisis, will provide a safe space where participants can learn to deepen their resilience and grow as agents for change in trying times.

The World Is Y/ours: Reflections of A Global RAPtivist by Aisha Fukushima

Aisha Fukushima is a public speaker, educator, singer, and 'RAPtivist' (rap activist). RAPtivism is a global hip hop project spanning 10 countries and four continents, highlighting the ways culture can contribute to universal efforts for freedom and justice by challenging apathy with awareness, ignorance with intelligence, and oppression with expression.

As a public speaker, Fukushima combines the art of performance and lecture. In her speeches she links themes such as hip hop, global citizenship, youth engagement and activism in a way that is accessible to audiences of any age and background.
