On Wednesday, March 5 at noon and 7 p.m., Martin E. Seligman, best-selling author and psychology professor at the University of Pennsylvania, will speak on his latest book "Authentic Happiness" at Monroe Community College's Brighton Campus Theatre. Seligman is a world-renowned lecturer whose work has been featured on the front page of the "New York Times," "Newsweek," "Reader's Digest" and many other well-known publications.
As a leading spokesperson for the new movement of positive psychology that focuses on mental health rather than mental illness, Seligman has a bibliography that includes 20 books and 170 articles on motivation and personality. In 1996, he was elected president of the American Psychological Association with a goal to join practice and science together.
Tickets for both the noon and 7 p.m. presentations are available at the Brighton Student Center Service Desk, Bldg. 3 and the Damon City Campus Bookstore, 228 East Main Street.
Seligman's appearance is co-sponsored by MCC's Psychology Department, Liberal Arts Department, Phi Theta Kappa and the Campus Activities Board.
PLEASE NOTE: Seligman's noon presentation will be videostreamed to DCC.
