Volunteer Month Spotlight -- RochesterCares

RochesterCares helps bridge the gap between agencies in need and volunteers looking to help out. They provide a monthly calendar of volunteer opportunities that are managed by trained team coordinators.

I worked with this organization in 2003 as a partnership between RochesterCares and Rochester AmeriCorps to paint the Al Sigl Center on Martin Luther King Day. When I’ve volunteered in the past, I’ve been in situations where I’m waiting for the organization to figure out what they want to do. What impressed me was how well organized the event was and how much we got done in only four hours! The staff at the Al Sigl Center believed that they had more than enough for us to do, but we finished painting more rooms than they had planned.

If you are interested in participating in a volunteer project, know of an organization that could use well-managed volunteers, or want to learn to develop volunteer management skills call 428-7231 or go to the Web site: "https://www.rochestercares.org/"https://www.rochestercares.org.
