Annual Sept. 11th Commemoration

The annual Sept. 11 commemoration will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday at Monroe Community College’s Remembrance Walk on the Brighton Campus.

The community is welcome to attend the commemoration, which will take place at the monument located behind the Samuel J. Stabins Physical Education Complex on MCC’s Brighton Campus, 1000 East Henrietta Rd. Parking is available in Lot G.

MCC students who are organizing the commemoration will honor all those whose lives have been affected by the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy. Following a moment of silence at 8:45 a.m., when the first plane struck the World Trade Towers in New York City, students will usher guests to the base of the monument for a floral tribute to honor everyone who died during the terrorist attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

The commemoration includes several musical performances and remarks by Senator Joseph P. Robach and Student Government Association (SGA) President Daniel Elliot. The event is organized by the SGA and the Campus Association for Student Activities.
