Toastmasters Introduce Teens to Public Speaking

On Friday, Feb. 20, MCC Toastmasters Club members Samson Olaode, STAGE, and Diane Navarro DeHond, Instructional Technologies, introduced teens to the importance of public speaking and the Toastmasters International program at the North Street Center in Rochester. They were guests of Cookie Waller from the Teen Court program locally which helps kids explore the legal profession/process and trains them to be lawyers for Teen Court.

Olaode was initially invited to present to the group for an hour about public speaking. He invited DeHond to join him and give a sample speech regarding “Giving Kids What They Need to Succeed.” The students were also given speaking topics during the meeting to develop their extemporaneous speaking skills.

The next meeting of the MCC Toastmasters will be held Tuesday, March 9 at the Damon City Campus, Room 5-140 at 4:30 p.m. sharp. Everyone is welcome to observe and learn more about the club! Regular meetings of the MCC Toastmasters Club are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month on the Brighton Campus, Room 12-105 at 4:30 p.m.. Please call MCC Toastmasters Samson Olaode, vice president of membership, at x1693, or Diane DeHond, president, at x3428, for more information.
