Dianna Phillips and Gloria Morgan Present at the 89th Annual Convention of the American Association of Community Colleges


Dianna Phillips, Dean of Technical Education, Rory Butler, Associate Professor, Office and Computer Programs Department (OCP), and Gloria Morgan, Associate Professor and OCP Chair presented at the 89th Annual Convention of the American Association of Community Colleges in Phoenix, Arizona, April 4-7, 2009.

The theme of the convention was “Diversity:  Our Vision, Our Value” – these are fundamental to the commitment to the community college mission.  Every individual benefits from access to learning and other opportunities that ensure personal fulfillment, economic security, and a better quality of life (vision); and a shared dedication to the belief that all individuals should be treated with respect and civility (value).

The workshop session was entitled:  Effective Academic Departments:  Getting to the Core, which focused on technical education programs and the common thread among them.  Factors impacting effectiveness were shared which included core curriculum and program models.
