MCC Daily Tribune

Institute for the Humanities Spring Event

Join MCC's Institute for the Humanities on April 28, 12:00-1:30 pm, for its spring event, Culture, History, & Memory: Bridging Rochester's Past & Present.

This virtual, interactive forum--developed and moderated by MCC Professors Jasna Bogdanovska (Visual and Performing Arts) and Joe Scanlon (Anthropology, History, Political Science, & Sociology)--will focus on the crossroads of politics, history, and photography in Rochester (and beyond) while exploring the ways in which the photographic image has helped shape our understanding of the region’s historical figures and events. It will also showcase a thematically-aligned student photography exhibition currently in development.

Featured panelists will include:

Melina Carnicelli, former mayor of Auburn, NY and founding director of 1st Amendment-1st Vote, inc.
Amanda Chestnut, curator, multi-media artist, educator, and "local arts loud-mouth" in Rochester, New York
Meredith Davenport, Assoc. Professor of Photographic Arts and Sciences, RIT, and award-winning photographer

For full panelist bios--and to REGISTER--visit IFH's Events Page.
