Based on the Rwandan genocide, Hotel Rwanda, which has been called an African Schindler's List, documents Paul Rusesabagina's acts to save the lives of his family and more than a thousand other refugees by providing them with shelter in the besieged Hôtel des Mille Collines. Starring Don Cheadle and Nick Nolte, Hotel Rwanda explores genocide, political corruption, and the repercussions of violence. Running time is 121 minutes. This showing includes refreshments and discussion, and is FREE and open to the public.

Please join MCC's Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project for its annual Voices of Vigilance program, at which the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide will be observed. The Project will welcome Paul Rusesabagina as its keynote speaker. Rusesabagina provided shelter for 1,268 people at the establishment he managed, the Hôtel des Mille Collines, which was one of the the only public places where people were safe during the genocide. Rwandans were killed and beaten in stadiums, schools, and churches, but no one under Rusesabagina's shelter was harmed or killed. Soldiers came to threaten him, slaughters happened outside the gates, but the people at the Hôtel des Mille Collines were safe. The 2004 film Hotel Rwanda, starring Don Cheadle, chronicles Rusesabagina's harrowing experience.
