Acquisition of Kodak Property Completed

I am delighted to share with you that Monroe County has completed the purchase of Eastman Kodak Company property at State Street and Morrie Silver Way where our new, permanent downtown campus will be housed.

As you know, the purchase was authorized by the Monroe County Legislature in February for $2.999 million. The acquisitions include five connected buildings featuring 560,000 square feet on seven floors (room for expanded academic, workforce, and co-curricular programming and partnerships); full-service cafeteria with flexible assembly space; 400 on-site parking spaces; and a plaza that serves as a gathering and meeting space.

The closing brings this phase of the downtown campus project to an exciting conclusion that rivals July Fourth fireworks.

It goes without saying that much work lies ahead in transforming the space to fulfill our students’ needs and realize their dreams for a high-quality learning environment. Dr. Otero will continue to engage DCC students, faculty and staff as we work to secure architectural services for the design of the new campus.

My gratitude goes to County Executive Brooks and her team, the SUNY Board of Trustees, the MCC Board of Trustees and all of you who have diligently supported us and worked tirelessly in our more than two-decade-long search for a permanent and affordable campus.

If you have any questions about the project, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. Otero. I also encourage you to continue following the project’s progress on the
downtown campus website and to look for periodic updates in the MCC Daily Tribune.
