A Discussion of "Culture and Objectification in the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show" at the Downtown Campus

Whether you are a football fan or not, you have likely heard or read about the reactions to the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show, which featured Shakira and J. Lo. Our students have asked to talk about it, so The Sociology Film Series is hosting a special discussion of the diverse global responses to these high-energy performances.

Culture and Objectification in the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 12:00pm-1:00pm in Room #352 on the Downtown Campus. Discussants are Professors Susan Bender (Speech Communications), Marisol Galarza-Ruiz (World Languages and Cultures) and myself (Sociology).

As always, this Film Series is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by the Department of Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology, MCC's Spanish Club, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Mentors in Violence Prevention at MCC (MVP-MCC) and RESTORE Sexual Assault Services.

Refreshments will be served. Faculty and staff, please share the attached flier, encourage student attendance and come if you can, too? Please direct any questions to me at cplumeri@monroecc.edu.
