Eating from Your Backyard: The Local Food Movement and Resurgence of Home Gardens

The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Wednesday, April 29, from 12:00 to 1:00pm. Robert King, Director of the Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute, will be speaking on “Eating from Your Backyard: The Local Food Movement and Resurgence of Home Gardens.” The event will be held on the fourth floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Are people in the Rochester area embracing the “eat local” movement? What does that mean for the local farmers and retail food suppliers? And has there been a large increase in backyard gardens in response to concerns about sustainability, food safety and the economy? Come hear our own Bob King discuss these issues and many more. Bob is a vocal advocate for local farmers and growers and is frequently cited in the local news media.
